Security First CAREs: Feeding Local Families & Supporting Community Causes in 2025
Security First Insurance continued its tradition of giving this season through the Security First CAREs program, bringing employees together to support local families and non-profit organizations.
This year’s Giving Thanks Decorating Contest saw remarkable growth, with 152 employees participating — a notable increase from last year. Their creativity and generosity filled beautifully crafted baskets with non-perishable foods, pantry staples, and grocery gift cards. Thanks to their efforts, 26 local families will receive full Thanksgiving meals in partnership with the Volusia Basket Brigade, surpassing last year’s reach and increasing the number of families Security First can help.
Holiday meal costs continue to rise, making it tougher for families to gather around the table. These baskets provide comfort and stability at a time when it’s needed most — a reminder that community connection can lighten the load for families facing hardship.

Earlier this fall, Security First employees also participated in three community walks to support suicide prevention, breast cancer research, and Alzheimer’s care. Those who couldn’t walk contributed through fundraising, donations, and volunteer support, reflecting the many ways CAREs empowers employees to give back.
The season of giving isn’t over. Security First employees are already collecting toys for its annual Easterseals holiday drive, with all donations set to be delivered in December—continuing the CAREs spirit of giving and bringing joy to local families this season.
“Our employees love working together to help our community. I’m so proud of what they do to support non-profits that feed local families and ensure children have a joyous holiday,” said Melissa Burt DeVriese, President of Security First Insurance.
