Security First Insurance created an helpline after Hurricane Matthew for anyone who has insurance questions. Their helpline number is 800-277-5884 and is staffed Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. They also have several resources for policyholders to file claims.
Those filing hurricane claims include many doing so for the first time, said Melissa Burt DeVriese, general counsel and chief administrative officer for Ormond Beach-based Security First Insurance Co.
Ormond Beach, Fla.– Oct. 26, 2016 – Security First Insurance has received more than 10,000 claims as a result of Hurricane Matthew, more than any other homeowner’s insurance company in Florida.
Security First Insurance’s president and chairman, Locke Burt, highlights the importance of filing a claim and how hurricane deductibles work in an on-air interview with Orlando’s NBC station.
"The reason Volusia had the most number of claims is because the eye of the hurricane passed closest to this area and this area has a greater population density than Flagler or St. Johns."
Security First Insurance pledge to remain "committed to Florida storm after storm, year after year" was put to the test with the arrival of Hurricane Matthew. "We're all hands on deck. This is not a test," said Melissa Burt DeVriese. "This is a real storm and we need to be sure to be there for our customers no matter what."
