Locke Burt comes from a family with over a 100-year legacy in insurance, beginning with his great grandfather in 1918. After witnessing first-hand the devastation of Hurricane Andrew in 1992 while serving in the Florida Senate, Locke was instrumental in helping Florida navigate its way out from under the rubble of a collapsing insurance market. He sought to create an insurance company that could better serve Floridan’s unique needs. Locke led Security First Insurance for 15 years. In 2020 his daughter, Melissa Burt DeVriese, became President overseeing operations as Locke serves as CEO and Chairman. Both continue to steer the company as leaders in Florida homeowners insurance.
