Floridadisaster.org provides an up-to-date list of open shelters. Many can house families with special needs and pets. Check the list and know before you go.

The Red Cross has resources for preparing for and weathering a storm. They will also set up mobile units in areas hardest hit after a disaster.

Do You Know Your Zone?

When you know your zone, it's easier to understand evacuation orders from local officials. According to Floridadisaster.org, you are most likely to be evacuated if you live in a low-lying, flood-prone area, a mobile home, or an unsafe structure.
