Florida-based homeowners insurance provider Security First Insurance is pleased to announce the appointment of Monique Miskimon-Aikens to Marketing and Communications Director. In this role, Miskimon-Aikens will lead all marketing initiatives, communications, and public relations for the company.

“I’m excited to see Monique grow in her career here at Security First. For years she’s been a valuable member of our Marketing & Communications Team and her experience and expertise will help us continue to improve our communications with our valued agents and customers,” said Security First’s President, Melissa Burt DeVriese.

With over 10 years of Marketing experience, Miskimon-Aikens comes into her new role with great perspectives and expertise. Before joining Security First in 2018, she worked as Marketing Director for Florida Wealth Planning Group, one of the largest franchise groups under the Ameriprise Financial umbrella, and as a volunteer for the Family Renew Community. Prior to relocating to Florida from Maryland, she was a Sr. Strategic Communications Consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton. While there, she was instrumental in developing knowledge management and transfer training strategies for a military client. Her earlier work at Space Telescope Science Institute, which is the operations center for the Hubble and James-Webb Space Telescopes, and handling of Homeland Security and ITAR protocols for Hubble’s Servicing Mission 4 earned her commendation for meritorious service.

Miskimon-Aikens’ appointment to Director comes as Security First shifts its focus to customer communications to foster greater understanding of key touchpoints in the customer experience and to inspire deeper trust in the company. Her experience as a college-level writing professor and her English degree will be advantageous to recreating the customer experience through our communications.

Miskimon-Aikens’ early career focused on advocacy, which positioned her to speak on Capitol Hill and at the White House during the Clinton Administration. Being selected as spokesperson for such an important initiative inspired her to pursue a communications degree that would further empower her to honor and tell the stories of others—only now she is achieving this goal while standing in the shoes of the customers receiving Security First’s communications.
Miskimon-Aikens graduated from the University of Baltimore with a Master of Arts degree in Publications Design and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a Specialization in Discourse in Technology.

“Over the last three years, I’ve enjoyed contributing to the company’s communications strategies and am thrilled to use my skills and experience to make a meaningful contribution with increased responsibility in our marketing efforts,” said Miskimon-Aikens.

The company has several job openings across departments, many of which do not require prior insurance experience. More information is available at SecurityFirstFlorida.com/Careers.
